Watching our diet is important if we wish to stay fit or lose some weight. A balanced diet will ensure proper vital functions, and help us stay active.

Vegetables are low calorie and mostly fat-free, thus they can help us control our weight and fight obesity whilst being a good source of nutrients such as vitamins and minerals.

Two vegetables stand out: eggplants and courgettes, both being quite low calorie (just 17 Kcal per 100 grams), and rich in vitamins, antioxidants and minerals.

Courgettes are rich in water, fibre, vitamins (A, C and B9) and minerals (mostly potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and calcium). By eating courgettes we are taking very few calories, protecting our immune system against infections, boosting our nervous system, taking care of our skin, and slowing our aging.

Courgettes may be consumed in many ways: raw in salads, grilled, roasted, stuffed, or cooked with meat or fish. Eggplants can also be grilled, roasted, or cooked.

Eggplants provide plenty of water, vitamins (A, B, C, and E) and minerals (mostly potassium and iron). Eating eggplants will cleanse our system, prevent anaemia, and lower cholesterol, while adding almost no calories to our diet.

As you can see, both types of vegetable are quite beneficial for our body and should be a part of our diet.
